Andrew Watkins

Andrew Watkins is a director whose work includes classical adaptations, rewritings, and collectively devised theater. His directing credits include The Oresteia (Theater for a New Audience, New York City), Uncle Vanya (3xChekhov Festival), The Yellow Wallpaper (IRT Theater, Dixon Place, New York City), and Miss Julie (Access Theater, New York City). He is currently developing Moments After Ajax (after Sophocles), which was workshopped at the Brooklyn Center for Theater Research and will premiere at JACK in Brooklyn in July 2026.

Recently, he served as dramaturg and wrote the text for Destiny|Fate|Blood, a new dance piece by Sawako Ogo (ACUD, Berlin). As assistant and associate director, he worked on the Broadway productions of Network starring Bryan Cranston (directed by Ivo van Hove) and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune starring Michael Shannon and Audra McDonald (directed by Arin Arbus). Off-Broadway, he has collaborated with Theater for a New Audience (four seasons) and Red Bull Theater, as well as with the Guthrie Theater, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, the Ruhrtriennale Festival, and Deutsches Theater Berlin.

He studied directing at Fordham University at Lincoln Center and earned a master’s degree in psychology from The New School for Social Research.
