Thomas Schmale

During his cultural studies in Hildesheim, Thomas Schmale works in the independent theatre scene both on and behind various stages. His text “care leaver”, which he performs as a monologue in the solo performance of the same name, wins the audience award at the Homochrom Literature Festival 2021 in Cologne. As a theatre educator, he works, among other places, at the Kinder- und Jugendhaus Nordstadt in Hildesheim and is invited to the Theatertreffen der Jugend 2022 in Berlin with the production “sex education” at stellwerk weimar. After working as an assistant director at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, Thomas Schmale has been part of the extended ensemble of Theaterhaus Jena since the 2024/2025 season, where he works across departments—primarily as an assistant director, but also as a stage manager, director, and performer.
