Theresa Henning studied acting at the Berlin University of the Arts. During her acting studies, the artist had already begun directing her own films. It was during this time that she founded her film production company “Kinderzimmerproduktion,” through which she realized two feature films.

In 2020, Theresa was nominated for the FAUST Prize in the category “Best Direction in Children’s and Youth Theatre.” Her artistic work focuses on creating theatre for and with children and young people. She is currently a permanent ensemble member at Theater an der Parkaue in Berlin. She has also served as the director of a children’s and youth theatre festival in Novosibirsk, Siberia, and has led the youth clubs at the Maxim Gorki Theatre and the Deutsches Theater Berlin.

Theresa continues to focus on intercultural collaboration in the German–African context. She works closely with the anarchist hip-hop collective “Soundz of the South” from South Africa, the Nigerian photographer Sulayman Afose, and other collaborators.
