Roland Hille

Born in Rathenow in 1986, he studied Theatre Technology (B.A. 2012) as well as Event Technology and Management (M.A. 2014) in Berlin. Since 1998, he has been active as a musician in various orchestras and bands. In 2010/11 he was part of the production management team at the Cologne Municipal Theatres. During the 2011/12 season he worked as assistant production manager at the Staatsoper Berlin, and in 2014 as set design assistant at Theaterhaus Jena. Since 2015, he has been production manager and part of the technical management team at Theaterhaus Jena.

In addition, he has repeatedly appeared at Theaterhaus Jena as a musician, composer, and arranger: among others, in 2015 on piano for Ronald M. Schernikau, in 2016 on glass organ for Irrsinn, and in 2017 with concept and music for Heinrich und Bob. Also in 2017, he wrote the children’s book Matilda geht auf Strecke (Matilda Hits the Road) and composed/arranged an accompanying music CD. In 2022, together with director Claudia Kirchhof, he brought the book to the stage as a musical reading and as a touring children’s play. The music for the 2023 play development On repeat by Zarah Bracht was also composed by him. In 2024, the specialist book Fachkunde Veranstaltungstechnik (Event Technology Fundamentals) was published by Europa Verlag, to which he contributed as an author on theatre technology topics. In the 2025/26 season, the mobile theatre play Wie Wir Wohnen Wollen (How We Want to Live) for kindergartens and primary schools will be created in collaboration with Claudia Kirchhof.
