Ioana Nițulescu

Ioana Nițulescu, born in 1995 in Bucharest: It all started with ballet, then came the love of pop songs, followed by a brief emo-rock-metal-whatever-as-long-as-it’s-cool phase, and eventually high school with a focus on mathematics and computer science.

And in between, there was theater. Later came the questioning of this form of expression, the exploration of the boundaries between spoken theatre and contemporary classical music in collaborations with Sânziana Dobrovicescu and Mihai Codrea, acting studies in Timișoara, acting studies in Graz, the confrontation with both “German” and “Romanian” culture, the search for a voice within my in-between state, guest and ensemble engagements at various institutions, and the engagement with their hierarchical structures.

Bucharest → Berlin → Bucharest → Timișoara → Graz → Bucharest → Graz → Marburg → Berlin → Jena!
