amən
Emanuele Rosa, Maria Focaraccio
The performance “amən” explores how social and cultural norms shape our bodies.
Starting from the Hebrew word amen — meaning “certain, true” — it examines the interweaving of body and authenticity, of appearance and truth:
Where do upbringing and culture end, and where do nature and disposition begin?
Reflections on identity and the attributions of masculine and feminine open up a multilayered richness that becomes visible in every body.
At once a prayer and an inner journey, “amən” uses movement, sound, and video to create a meditative space that reveals new perspectives on gender representation and the tension between social structures and self-image.
