Wie ist deine Verfassung?

“I can’t make a piece about the people of Jena and Thuringia without having spoken to them!”

The actress Yasmin Pracht addresses the audience with an assignment from Theaterhaus Jena. She is to develop a piece about their everyday realities in Jena and Thuringia. To this end, she wants to interview the audience today.
But suddenly Benjamin Maria Wegscheid enters the room, a colleague whom Yasmin cannot stand at all. He has received exactly the same assignment. No one at the theater can be reached, both of them need the money, and there is no other option but to work together. And so Benjamin and Yasmin have to try to bridge the chasms between them.

To do so, they discuss, argue, rub ointment on each other’s backs, make up again, get to know each other anew, and realize that it is actually not about them at all, but about the audience. Together with the spectators, they enter into dialogue: How are we doing right now in Thuringia? What do we need to feel comfortable? What do we argue about? And what is worth arguing for? When do we feel connected to one another? And should perhaps all people be like a fungal mycelium?

In developing the piece, they explore together with the audience what we need for living together as a community in today’s challenging times, which are increasingly marked by loneliness. Using colorful Post-its, adhesive tape, and fluorescent threads, Benjamin and Yasmin set out with the spectators in search of connectedness.

In addition to the evening performances for audiences of all ages, a version for school classes aged 13 and up can be booked.
