Magda, who lives in Germany, is bored, frustrated, and longs to finally fall in love again. She wants to feel real life, to find meaning, to experience some kind of genuine emotion. But then comes the day that is meant to change everything. She meets Nothemba from Khayelitsha, one of the largest townships in South Africa—and through her, a new world opens up. An entire universe.

Theresa Henning and Khanya Athule Baba create, with Magda and Nothemba, two female characters whose stories intertwine across continents, sensitively revealing the traces of Africa’s colonial past. Their journey toward each other, their different experiences, and what connects them—the desire for healing and empowerment—are brought vividly to life with every beat of Matondo Castlo’s rap soundtrack.
