Hass / Μίσος / Ură

based on the movie »La Haine« by Mathieu Kassovitz

Back seat of a Citroën, forehead pressed against the side window, the gaze brushes over the neon lettering on the façade of the prefabricated housing block: “I spy with my little eye …”
The international collaboration with Spectrum AMKE takes the cult film La Haine as a framework to engage with life on the margins of society.

Newly written texts by the Master’s program Professional Writing at FSU Jena create scenes that bring the film’s template into the present-day periphery of Jena: between distant origins and housing estates, social discontent and emerging fascism.

Following the first theater exchange with the Örkény Színház in Budapest, Theaterhaus is cooperating this season with the Greek theater company Spectrum AMKE. Parallel to this production, 24 hours in a world that doesn’t belong to us (premiere on February 11, 2026, directed by Pantelis Flatsousis) is being created at Theatro Technis in Athens. The productions are realized with artists from both countries and presented in the respective partner city.
