ein Abend für Empathie und Resonanz // a teenpark-Production
This year’s teenpark production will be a round dance of deconstruction. The stage becomes a theatrical lab. A laboratory of resonance.
Our guiding questions are:
What happens when a body is exposed to resonance?
What happens when that body is a human being?
How does successful listening actually work?
In order to explore this, we look for stand-ins and find them in the characters of Shakespeare’s King Lear.
Where do their hatred, their naivety, their misunderstandings, their envy, their monstrosity, their suffering, their love come from?
Declaiming Shakespeare, we attempt to trace the deficient creature that is the human being. Into this crisis-ridden present—our now—we implement a space of resonance.
We offer one another attention and empathy. We make ourselves resilient against filter bubbles.
Premiere: March 23, 2023
Running time: 60 min
If you’d like, I can also make this more academic, more poetic, or more accessible for a young-audience program note.
