School Theatre Days 2025

The registrations for the Jena School Theatre Days 2025 are now closed!

16 groups from elementary schools to comprehensive schools, grammar schools and vocational schools are cordially invited to present their theatrical works on our big stage and to interact with each other over the four days of the festival.

This year's festival will take place from 13-16 May (Tue-Fri) at the Theaterhaus Jena.

The motto of the School Theatre Days 2025 is »DEFIANCE«.

Because the time for DEFIANCE has come.

Now, after registration, we will also do the other preparatory work (such as making appointments for stage visits/allocating stage times/blocking dates/program booklet texts/ Gema information, etc.) digitally on our on-boarding page, which is currently being created, and you will receive an email when it is activated.

The contributions from primary schools and Years 5 and 6 will be limited to a maximum of 30 minutes.

For the older grades, we ask that you do not exceed the 40-minute limit; otherwise, the festival days would be too long.

Cancellation of participation is possible up to 4 weeks before the festival. If you cancel at less than 4 weeks' notice, you are still scheduled to take part in the festival as a participant and audience member, and it would be great if you could still report on your production. You can do this with photos of your ideas, short video sequences from the rehearsals or a short performance live on stage.

It is also a condition of participation to visit the theatre production »Trotz« by the youth theatre ensemble Teenpark in March for all groups from grade 7 upwards.

The festival thrives on exchange and feedback. That's why all theatre groups spend the entire festival day at the theatre to watch the other groups' plays and give feedback to the others.

In practice, this means that the primary school students spend time in the theatre from 15:00 to approx. 19:30 and the older children from 16:00 to approx. 20:30. The end of the program depends on the length of the contributions.
