Theaterhaus Jena in conversation with Deutschlandfunk Kultur

Under the title “Grassroots versus the Rule of Might,” Daniele Szeredy from our artistic leadership spoke with Deutschlandfunk Kultur. As part of DLF’s annual theme “The Law of the Stronger,” the conversation deliberately sets a counterpoint, foregrounding the power of collective, solidaristic structures.

At the heart of the discussion were Theaterhaus Jena’s collectivist self-conception, the practical implementation of emancipatory aspirations in everyday work, the challenges of collective decision-making processes, and approaches to dealing with conflicts as well as external political and financial pressures.

The conversation also looked to the future: where the Theaterhaus stands today, how collective work functions in concrete terms—and which projects and structural developments are planned for 2026.
