“Theater in Motion” captivates with international dance.

Over 900 visitors at the end of the festival.

With great applause, the dance festival “Theater in Motion” came to a close last weekend at Theaterhaus Jena. From November 1 to 8, more than 900 visitors experienced a diverse program over six festival days, featuring seven productions, two free walking acts, and two free workshops.

The festival impressively demonstrated how diverse, political, and poetic contemporary dance can be today. Under the motto “Body – From Conflict to Pleasure – In Search of a Common Ground,” international artists presented performances that continuously redefined the boundaries between body, space, and audience.

The curatorial team — Jasmin Avissar, Maya Gomez, and Lukas Pergande — was overwhelmed by the response: “‘Theater in Motion’ has shown that dance is a universal language — one that connects people and makes emotions directly tangible,” said Lukas Pergande, Artistic Director and member of the artistic leadership at Theaterhaus Jena.

With the festival, Theaterhaus Jena sent a strong signal for the relevance of contemporary dance in Thuringia and beyond. The diversity of voices and styles presented on stage this year underscores the theater’s openness to international collaboration and new aesthetic impulses.

The Theaterhaus team extends heartfelt thanks to all artists, partners, the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Thuringia for its support, and of course to the audience for their great enthusiasm and encouragement.
