Theaterhaus Jena has been an integral part of the German theatre landscape since 1991, serving as an aesthetic laboratory and a springboard for young performing artists. It is regarded as a pioneering theatre model situated between the independent scene and municipal theatre. The programme features world premieres as well as contemporary adaptations of classics and newly developed productions. Theaterhaus Jena is organized as a non-profit limited liability company under private sponsorship and receives institutional funding from the City of Jena and the Free State of Thuringia.
Theaterhaus Jena is looking to expand its administrative team and is therefore seeking an employee for payroll accounting (wages and salaries) starting in April/May 2026. The position is initially limited to one year, with the intention of offering a permanent contract and long-term collaboration. Regular working hours are 40 hours per week, full-time, with flexible working hours. Theaterhaus Jena is not bound by any collective bargaining agreements. Remuneration is based on the internal salary structure of Theaterhaus Jena and standard industry pay rates.
Your responsibilities will include, among others:
- Responsibility for preparing monthly payroll and salary statements
- Handling reports to health insurance providers and tax authorities, and issuing income certificates
- Recording and maintaining employee master data and payroll changes
- Preparing for and supporting payroll tax and social security audits
- Acting as a point of contact for colleagues on payroll tax and social security matters
- Preparatory work for the annual financial statements in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB)
- General administrative tasks and support for the team
What you bring with you:
- Completed commercial vocational training or comparable qualifications
- Professional experience in payroll accounting
- Sound knowledge of social security, tax, and labor law
- General accounting knowledge desirable
- Strong mathematical and analytical thinking skills
- Confident use of MS Office, especially Excel
- Strong organizational skills and good time management
