Job Posting: Head of the Artistic Operations Office (KBB), starting with the 2026/27 season
Since 1991, Theaterhaus Jena has been an integral part of the German theatre landscape, serving as an aesthetic laboratory and a launching pad for young stage artists. It is considered a pioneering theatre model situated between the independent scene and municipal theatre. The repertoire includes world premieres as well as modern adaptations of classical works and devised productions. Theaterhaus is organized as a non-profit limited company under private management and receives institutional funding from the City of Jena and the Free State of Thuringia.
For the upcoming season (2026/27), we are seeking a new Head of the Artistic Operations Office (KBB). The KBB consists of the position to be filled and a half-time assistant position.
Compensation is based on the internal salary structure of Theaterhaus and standard industry rates.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling and coordinating all events, meetings, and processes related to rehearsals and performances in consultation with management, artistic direction, and the various departments of Theaterhaus
- Coordinating the implementation of approved performance schedules
- Preparing daily (if required), weekly, and monthly schedules
- Organizing guest performances and touring engagements
- Supporting the artistic direction and management in organizational matters
- Arranging accommodation for guests
What you bring:
- Previous experience in theatre operations
- Practical experience in artistic operations coordination (KBB/scheduling) is desirable
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a high degree of reliability and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Artistic sensitivity and a high level of flexibility
- Willingness to work theatre-typical hours
- Good IT skills
- Good command of German and English
