From March 24 to March 27, 2026, this year’s School Theatre Days will take place at Theaterhaus Jena.

The School Theatre Days are a festival for all students who perform theatre either as part of their school lessons or in their free time. For one week each year, Theaterhaus Jena hands over its main stage to children, teenagers, and young adults, who shape the week’s program with their own productions.

A maximum of four performances are presented on stage each festival day. The participants from the theatre groups are therefore both performers and audience members on their respective performance day. They watch all the presentations of the day and reflect on what they have seen in small, guided feedback sessions between the performances. These sessions are moderated by theatre professionals. At the end of the day, the feedback from all sessions is briefly summarized in a large round on stage.

In total, 16 groups will engage with this year’s theme, “Unruhe”, over the four festival days. Inspired by the youth ensemble Teenpark’s annual production “Ich mache Landschaften aus dem, was ich fühle” the participating groups are also invited to explore this theme in the content of their own pieces. The theatre stage creates a space that allows the young performers—away from the classroom—to engage with their wishes and fears, while giving the audience insight into the inner worlds of the next generations.

The performances are open to the public. Tickets are valid for a full day and are available for €5 (€3 reduced) via tickets@theaterhaus-jena.de. The full program can be viewed on the School Theatre Days website.
